This letter is to inform you of your child’s progress in reading.
Your child’s current reading level is Level P

M= Student has mastered the skill within the current reading level
N= Student needs support with this skill in order to move to the next level
___Using new vocabulary learned from stories in discussing or writing about what
       they read
___Responding to the tension in a story by reading on to look for solutions to
       problems
___Seeing changes in characters across a story and explain possible reasons for the
       change
___Identifying the message (theme) of a text and discuss how it applies to their
      everyday life
___Actively asking questions of the text and searching for answers while reading
___Recognize and discuss when the story is being told from a different point of view
___Understanding the different ways of reading according to the genre of a book
___Following multiple characters through different parts of a story, thinking about
       their feelings about each other
___Using the words of a sentence, paragraph, or whole text to figure out the meaning of a          
       word
___Making statements about characters by studying the choices they make, how they             
      treat other characters, and how they react towards problems
___Stopping to think about the text to jot their ideas down on a post-it and then
       continue reading
___Changing what they think about the story as they come across new information
___ Making many different predictions and then confirming their ideas
       when they are correct or changing their thinking and getting rid of predictions
       when they no longer match the story
