Your child’s current reading level is Level K

M= Student has mastered the skill within the current reading level
N= Student needs support with this skill in order to move to the next level
___Noticing new and interesting words, and practice using them when having
       book discussions
___Figuring out the meaning of words used in Science and Social Studies related
       books, using pictures and definitions in the glossary           
___Summarizing a longer story with multiple scenes
___Identifying important ideas from a text and explaining their thoughts through writing
___Demonstrating understanding of character, using parts of the story to explain their
       thoughts and opinions
___Making statements about characters by studying the choices they make, how they treat other characters, and how they react towards problems
___Using personal experiences to better understand the characters and events of a story
___Identifying the message (theme) of a text by thinking about what they’ve learned
       from the story or characters
___Stopping to think about the text to notice what they are thinking and jot their ideas
       down on a post-it
___Changing what they think about characters after reading more of the story
___ Making many different predictions and then confirming their ideas
       when they are correct or changing their thinking and getting rid of predictions
       when they no longer match the story
