Your child’s current reading level is Level C

M= Student has mastered the skill within the current reading level
N= Student needs support with this skill in order to move to the next level
___ Recognizing a large number of sight words and simple words quickly in a story
___Figuring out new words by thinking about which words would make sense or
      sound right within the sentence
___Remembering and retelling the most important events that happened in the story
___Describes the traits of a character and the kind of person he/she is
___Rereading stories to find parts (words and pictures) that match the ideas they have   
       about the character in the story
___Predicting the ending of a story based on reading the beginning and middle of a  story
___Using first letters of words and pictures to figure out new words
___Remembers and holds onto each part of the story as they read
___Understanding what a character is feeling during different parts of a story
___Makes connections to parts of stories that remind them of similar experiences
       they’ve had
___Pausing after each sentence while reading and changing their voice when they notice
       sentences that end with question marks or exclamation points
___Notices the beginning and end of a word when figuring out new words
___Understanding character’s feelings and why they act the way they do
___Connects two different stories by noticing how they are alike
___Changes their voice to sound like characters in the story while reading dialogue
