Communication
Communication between home and school is very important to us.  We believe it’s a key to your child’s success in school.  We will make every effort to communicate with you as much as possible.  Here are some of the ways you can communicate with us:

  • communication notebook – Everyday a communication notebook will go home that we will include information such as how your child is doing in academics, important upcoming events, and other information.  We encourage you to use this to write to us.  If you would like to meet in person we can schedule a meeting through the communication notebook.
  • telephone – If there is an emergency and you need to speak to us immediately then you may call the school.  Leave a message and we will get back to you as soon as possible.
  • home folder – A folder will be sent home with your child containing permission slips, handouts, homework, newsletters, and important school news.  Please remember to check you child’s backpack everyday!

Snack

Snack time is an important part of the school day because it gives children a chance to refuel on many levels: physically, socially, and emotionally.  This year we will be focusing on healthy and nutritious eating. Water will be provided to your children on a daily basis.  Please note that the children only have 10-15 minutes to eat, so please limit what you send in.  Please do not send in any products that contain nuts due to high incidence of allergic reactions.

Birthday Parties

We feel that a birthday is such an important event in a child’s life; it deserves to be celebrated at school, with everyone included.  We especially think parents should be included in this event.  Parties generally last for 45 minutes and are conducted in the afternoon after lunch.  All we ask is that you give us a month’s notice and that you limit the treats to cupcakes or ice cream.

Field Trips and Neighborhood Walks
Throughout the year we will be going on various field trips and neighborhood walks.  Further information about field trips and neighborhood walks along with permission slips will be sent home in your child’s home folder.  Please sign the permission slips as soon as possible so your child can join us.

We are very excited about having your child in our class.  Working together we can make this school year successful and memorable for your child.

Very Truly Yours,
Ms. Wilder
